Mabel

Our beloved Mabel (our beagle) was hit by a car last night. The injuries were so bad, we had to put her to sleep.

She was such a good girl. We were so blessed to have her. Mabel, you are going to be so missed. Thank you for the time we had with you.

Been A While!

Been very busy these days and really have not the time to create much these days. With the little time I do have, I decided not to spend it on the painting and all the clean up. Brought out the old colored pencils (from COLLEGE!) and thought it would be fun to try again. Really loved doing these with paint and thought Mr. Waddles would be fun to do again.

(Colored pencil on 8x10 Bristol Paper)

Sorry images are so fuzzy...

Amherst Junior Women's Club Auction Time!

Can't believe it's been a year since the last piece I painted for the auction! This time around I selected tables and had fun returning to my graphic style.

They like the pieces titled, so these are called Night and Day and are 20"L x 18"W x 16 1/2"H.

Periwinkle Blue table.

Happy Sunflower Yellow.

The brown in the center appears more blotchy than it really is, in real life. I believe it's because of the semi-gloss finish and the glare of the flash on the camera. Even the light and shadows on the flowers and leaves aren't captured well.

Sour Bowl in Oils

In the photo repro, I can't seem to capture the painting's true colors well. The lemons are much more yellow and the whites brighter. Oh well.....

It was another fun painting which I originally created in acrylics and revisited in oils.

14x11 oil on professionally stretched canvas. (available as soon as a better photo is taken of painting.)

Grapes In Crystal Bowl

Such a popular acrylic painting it was only natural to try it again, in oils!

Chair for Chairty!

CHAIR-ITY!!! Haha... okay, bad joke.

I belong to the Amherst Junior Women's. The club is a great group that works hard all winter, raising money for various charities. This year, the auction committee decided instead of having the formal auction at the country club, they'd have many local artists paint Adirondack Chairs, which will be auctioned in April.

I am flattered to say, I was one of the artists the committee asked!!! It was fun, being involved and am so eager to see what the other artists have done.

I just hope it gets at least one bid!!! I am so nervous. Please wish me luck.

There are small little dots one the arm paddles and on the slats of the seat... hope you can see them in the image.

Memorial Pet Portrait

I was commissioned to do a pet portrait, over the winter, by the nicest woman. When she first contacted me, her email really touched me.

It was a joy to paint the portait and it was a pleasure working with her! She liked it and she's asked me to do another portrait. I am so honored!

Sorry For My Absence!

Sorry everyone, for not posting for so long.

My mother died July 3rd, 2007. Although I have been doing most of the things I usually do, it's been hard keeping up.... terrible with emails, forums and especially this blog!!!

I'd like to thank everyone who noticed my absence and contacted me, over the months. I appreciate all your best wishes and being in your thoughts!

Very sincerely,
Leslie

“I've Been Tagged!!!”

Ha! I have been tagged!!!

I'd like to thank Karen Schmidt from Louisiana Edgewood Art for tagging me (I am embarrassed to mention how long ago). What fun! You can read the rules on her Blog's post; "I've Been Tagged".

First I am to give seven facts about me (I assume unique things not already found in my profile). Well here it goes!

1. The comma key on my keyboard is broken.

2. We have one beagle named Mabel. What a hoUUUUUnd!

3. I don't grow weeds I grow wildflowers.

4. My eye glasses come from the DollarTree.

5. Still waiting for the other shoe to drop.

6. Run around the court chasing tennis balls several times a week.

7. I try hard to never squat with my spurs on. Trust me...

Now I am supposed to come up with 7 people to tag but I was invited to do this by a blogging friend that has a lot of the same cyber-friends as I... she's tagged them first!!

1. Mary Sheehan Winn. Her fun use of color and artistic style really shine in each of her pieces. I love spending my mornings (when not so crazy) viewing her recent work.

2. Debbie Miller. She has a fun way of capturing real life in her work.

3. Rebecca Finch A wonderful still life artist and a fellow WetCanvas member!

4. Linda Blondheim Holy cow what wonderful landscapes. Her blog has great suggestions and demos that are so incredibly helpful. OH! And Linda’s also a WetCanvas member.
